Description
Disodium Hydrogen Citrate 1.37 mg / 5ml Syrup
Disodium Hydrogen Citrate Syrup has the brand name “ALKASAR-Cand is a urinary alkaliser used in the treatment of renal tubular acidosis, gout and kidney stones. Kidney stones are small, hard mineral/acid salt deposits consisting of calcium, phosphate and other minerals/acid salts that aggregate in concentrated urine. Renal tubular acidosis is a condition where the kidneys do not adequately expel acids into the urine; this leaves the blood too acidic.
Disodium Hydrogen Citrate Syrup has disodium hydrogen citrate, which is metabolised to bicarbonate and enhances free bicarbonate ion excretion; this enhances cysteine solubility in the urine and ionises uric acid to soluble urate ion. This assists in enhancing the urinary ph, thus rendering the urine less acidic.
