Description
Choline Salicylate and Lignocaine Hydrochloride Gel
Choline Salicylate + lignocaine is a mixture of two drugs, i.e., Choline salicylate and lidocaine. Choline salicylate is an anti-inflammatory non-steroidal drug (NSAID), while lidocaine is a local anaesthetics. Choline Salicylate + lignocaine is used to treat mouth ulcers. Mouth ulcers, or canker sores, are small, painful sores that occur in the mouth or on the base of the gums.
Choline salicylate accomplishes this by inhibiting the action of a chemical messenger in your body called cyclo‑oxygenase (COX) enzymes, which produce another chemical, prostaglandins (PG). These prostaglandins are formed at sites of injury and induce pain and inflammation. Inhibiting the action of COX enzymes results in fewer PGs being formed, which decreases mild to moderate pain and inflammation at the site of injury or damage. Lidocaine prevents the pain impulses from the nerves to the brain, thus assisting in reducing the pain impulses. Choline Salicylate + lignocaine combined assists in the healing of mouth ulcers.
